Dive into the deep, dark, gritty heart of Berlin with a visit to Eschloraque Rümschrümp. This smokey bar islocated in a graffiti-ridden hinterhof (backyard) of the Haus Schwarzenberg, an artists space in Hackescher Markt, which is just a short walk (or one S-Bahn or tram stop) from the Citystay Hostel.

This grungy yet hip space is filled with monster art pieces, a wide selection of drinks, non-stop music, and even special guest DJs. If you’re a writer seeking solace, you can also do some much-needed work here since the (pretty much) all-day bar has a great Wi-Fi connection.

Whether you choose to immerse yourself within the area’s cool graffiti pieces and man-made monsters (the Monster Museum is right across the bar) or get cozy in the bar’s comfy couches, Eschloraque Rümschrümp is the best place to experience Berlin’s edgy, creative side without having to go too far.

Plus, since the bar is managed by the Dead Chicken, which is a Berlin-based artist collective, you can expect a whole slew of scheduled art performances, kooky parties and gigs.
